One of the things that can make learning grammar
challenging is not having enough sentences with which to
practice. Constructor uses a database of hundreds of
sentence structures that can generate millions of unique
sentences based on the control options that are set. For
example, the sentences may use different subjects,
different tenses of verbs, different phrases or clauses, or
may be reworded in the form of a question or an imperative
sentence. Because of this, players have a nearly
unlimited number of sentences on which to practice. And
because they may never see the exact same sentence twice,
they must answer the questions based on their knowledge
of grammar rather than on their memory of having seen
the same sentence before.
Identifying the parts of a sentence is like putting
together the pieces of a puzzle and so Constructor allows
you to play two games in one. First, players answer
grammar questions to identify the elements of a sentence
and for each correct answer, they win a puzzle piece.
When they have acquired enough pieces, they get the
chance to solve a puzzle with those pieces. The puzzle
in each round gets a bit more challenging and requires
more pieces to solve. Can you become a "Grammar Guru"
by solving all fifteen puzzles?
Game Plans
-
Game Plans are used to control the options for each
game.
-
Over 55 sentence options determine the types of
sentences that are generated.
-
Nearly 60 question types control the types of
questions that are asked about the sentences.
-
If the optional items question type is set, not only
does the player have to identify the various elements,
but must first also determine if an element exists in
the sentence or not.
Game Play
-
Constructor presents a sentence and asks various
questions about that sentence.
-
Players earn puzzle pieces for each correctly answered
question.
-
Extensive help is available at any time by tapping on
the question icon.
-
A maximum number of questions are allowed for each
round. With those questions, players must win enough
pieces to solve the puzzle for that round.
Solving the Puzzle
-
Drag puzzle pieces into place to complete the puzzle.
-
Pieces may not overlap and must be completely contained
within the puzzle.
-
If a player needs more pieces, he or she can continue to
answer additional questions and possibly earn additional
pieces.
Track Answers
-
Constructor tracks each of a player's answers so they
can later see how they are doing in particular areas.
-
Track the answers for up to eight players.
